Kaio also sometimes sleepwalks, but it's always the same happening. He comes down around 2 hrs after going to bed, disoriented, gives us a hug and then goes back to bed. We have tried to talk to him but he simply stares and does not responds. The next day he does not remember these nightly visits!

Night events.....
For a couple of weeks Kaio has had the same nightmare. He is very frightened when he comes and looks for comfort. He dreams about a zoo, in the distance... And it all sounds and feels scary, he even says that he is not in the dream. I had nightmares when little and remember how scary they were. So when Kaio came out, several times we just calmed him down and talked about it the next day, we also turned on his bathroom light and left his door open. Josefine did not comprehend why a zoo was scary and Kaio had a hard time explaining it. After several weeks of alternate days of nightmares he just stopped having them one day! Josefine, cheeky monk, would come out of her room, 2 mins after we put her to bed, saying she had a nightmare...

When I am an adult
The other day, early in the morning, on our drive to school, Josefine, out of nowhere, said: I can't wait to be an adult and take the babies out of my tummy! I told her that there aren't any babies in her belly now... That of course prompted the question "how do the babies get into the belly"(!!!!) I thought for a moment and said: first you will have a to find a special person, just like I found daddy! That made her think for a while (at this point I was a bit worried what her next question would be and how I should answer, after all, she is only 4 and a bit young for the bee talk) and she finally said: I will find a prince! And, luckily, that was that!

Swimming
We've restarted swimming classes. They uses to go in Brazil and it made them comfortable with water and the pool. Last summer a friend spend a couple of days with Kaio and he learned how to swim without floaties, only 10 feet max, but a good step in the right direction. There are several new options to teach kids and after some further research, I signed them up this week. They start with every day, 30min class for 2 weeks and then go into biweekly classes. We started 2 days ago and they are super excited! Kaio even did a couple if breaststrokes by himself and Josefine dove. I am very happy we restarted this and are hoping to keep it up so they can become great swimmers!

Skiing
This weekend we went to breckenridge. We all went skiing on Friday, both kids went to a full day ski school and we were curious how they liked it. Kaio adored it so much we enrolled him a second day. His instructor was also very surprised he had never skied before as he was so good. By the end of the first day he was coming down the green slopes, the same ones I was skiing. By the second day his instructor repeated again how amazed he was with Kaio's progress. He mentioned Kaio said several time, throughout the day, how much he loved skiing! He is
ready for blue slopes! Josefine did not enjoy it as much and only skiid for 1/2 day. The second day Josefine and I enjoyed some daughter and mommy time...

Cowboy and cowgirl
We went to the stock show with the kids. They loved it!!! We started with some hotdogs and a 90min dog show which they adored! After that we also strolled around to see the animals. Kaio was very interested in all the details and Josefine took a nice afternoon nap. (With all the 'emotions' from the dog show and a weekend in the mountains, she needed it). Kaio got a cowboy hat and Josefine already had one! The next morning Josefine instantly put her hat on to go to school. Kaio more cautious did not want to ruin it! When I picked her up from school she still had it on! When we got home they instantly started playing cowboy and cowgirl. They pretended to plant, make cheese and Kaio did a beautiful painting about his seeds, eggs and cheese he made in the farm! I love it when they get so into it!
Chinese whisper..
While at a restaurant, after a Sunday filled with activities, kids were a bit tired and cranky... Jason and I pretended to whisper in each other's ear and got their attention.... We went into playing the Chinese whisper for 30 mins. It was funny a dn entertaining. Josefine started with 'the elefant has a broken leg' to finishing the night with 'the city is broken'. At the end they had as much fun as we had seeing them enjoy themselves!!!

Is portugues totally gone?!??
I have mentioned a couple of times that the kids are totally switched to English. We think it is great as they adjusted so well and are perfectly adjusted to the US. However I have started noticing they are really loosing portugues. They understand when I speak portugues but lately they ask to repeat what I say and sometimes ask to say it in English. I have several Brazilian friends married to Americans and living here and they kids have been able to master both languages. It's entirely my fault as I speak English 80% of the time. So I am really going to try and switch 100% portugues with the kids. I believe it is important and they are at a perfect age.
Goodbye 2013 and welcome 2014
New Year's Eve... Very mellow: a nice bath with my 2 cuties and watching a DVD we picked up earlier at the library... The year has flowen by with many changes for our family. But as I think back, it has been an awesome year!!!! We started the year in Brazil, preparing our move to the US. In the us we had to adjust to our new lives here. New schools, new friends, new customs, new routines... But after have been here 10 months, settled in a new home, kids adjusted nicely at their schools, our new jobs, I can honestly say we are happy!!!!! We are happy we made the move, happy we can concurred so much in such a short time, happy the kids are growing up and developing perfectly, happy we are living in the US!!!
Let 2014 come with more happiness and more conquests by our family! Let us continue to be united, support each other, seek new challenges and grow!!!
